Tips for a Successful NAVHDA Experience

There are many opinions about how to train dogs and most work if you stick to one method. Pick one or two Mentors that you can lean on and stick to it!

Consistency

Make sure you know what you want the finished product to be and what behaviors you do not want from your dog. The sooner you curtail the unwanted behaviors, the better!

Accountability

Do not expect perfection! Mistakes are data points to help you plan you next training outing to maintain Accountability.

Persistance

You will learn more on a training day by helping and engaging with others during their training. Additionally, they will be more likely to help you!

Help Others

Stick to it, especially during the initial learning period. You need to build upon past learning to break through. If you are not ready to commit, your time may not yield results as you will be starting over after a long period with no training.

Dedication
